Tubbs Hill Mural Project: Final Prep
Whew, it was a long week of prep work at home, at school, and running around for materials. There were many episodes of priming and painting, and an almost daily circus of moving the mural panels among various locations in the school to accommodate construction and teacher/staff needs. I spent much of today arranging everything at school for next week. This involved moving the 10 panels into position, painting two coats of exterior latex on the back for longevity, and setting up the watercolor station where students will each have an hour to work on a small, individual painting of Tubbs Hill. Another hour or so monday morning and I'll be ready for the kids. I can't wait to finally be painting this with them!
A HUGE thank you to the handful of parents to came in to help here and there through this last prep week. You made my work easier and enjoyable! Thanks also to the parents and teachers who helped behind the scenes the last couple weeks: lending tools, unlocking the school, and offering expertise (especially that certain special Sorensen dad who twice ran to pick up and trim the panel boards). Ok, one more big thanks: to my fabulous husband who has tended kids, managed the house, hauled panels around with me, and generally just been the best all around support I could dream to have. I'm so fortunate to have you!
