Badlands Residency Day 7
I drove out to Rapid City again today, this time to do a live interview with South Dakota Public Radio for their Dakota Midday program. You can listen to the interview at:

This evening I met with people from the regional NPS office to discuss plans for illustrating their upcoming Design Guidelines publication for Badlands. Yosemite has recently published a set of guidelines, and these will address the same concerns: many of the buildings qualify for the national historic registry, and as such there are federal rules that govern any modifications to existing structures. This lengthy publication will serve as a guide to park staff, helping ease the efforts to maintain compliance during renovation and construction projects. I was asked to provide the illustrations for the publication, which will cover everything from architectural details to signage to landscape formations. I'm very excited.
Sorry - no photographs today. Too much else on the plate.
