Participants will learn to layer a variety of techniques in watercolor to build a completed painting that utilizes a wide range of watercolor’s abilities. The instructor will teach how to choose the order of layers and techniques to use in a painting. Participants will practice a smooth gradient wash, wet on wet, dry bush, simplifying complex areas, and building careful detail work – all in one painting of a favorite local landscape along the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River. Learn to use watercolor to your advantage and bring your sky, trees, rocks, grasses, and water to life! You will go home with new skills to apply to future paintings.
Participants should bring materials, lunch, and a water bottle.
Suggested materials note: you will only need one sheet of quality watercolor paper 8x12” or larger, and you will not need your own reference photos.
