Watercolor Workshop September

Jessica L Bryant Watercolor Workshop

September 19-21, 9am - 4pm

In downtown Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

Join me in my studio for a 1, 2, or 3-day workshop!

Day 1: Beginner/Refresher Day (September 19)

This class may be taken on its own or combined with the following two-day workshop. We will dig deep into the essentials of working with watercolor and focus on the foundations of value, color, water control, and how to choose reference material you can be successful with. This day is for all abilities. Beginners will learn the basics and be ready for the Main Workshop. Advanced painters will have opportunity to analyze and finesse their approach with guidance. The information, practice, and feedback will be valuable for all. Bring all your questions!

Day 2 and 3: Main Workshop (September 20 and 21)

We will continue to explore value and color as we dive into simplifying complex subjects and recognizing your unique voice. There will be demonstrations and exercises that apply to all subject matter, with an emphasis on how to use careful observation as a basis to understand and interpret your subject in a way that suits your personal painting style. We will also analyze and problem solve during the painting process, and discuss how to know when a painting is finished. Participants will have the ability to bring in paintings and reference material for feedback and to explore personal goals.

Special Bonus:

Participants have the option to stay late on day 2 for independent work time, socializing, and dinner ordered in to the studio. Any food or beverage purchases are your own expense both nights, and activities will end around 7pm.

Cost:

Full 3-day workshop: $325

Beginner Day only: $125

Main Workshop only: $250

To register, email Jessica at jessicabryantart@gmail.com. Upon confirmation that there is space available, you will be asked to send payment via mailed check or online payment. A nonrefundable deposit of $100 is required to reserve a spot in any of the workshop options. The full balance is due by September 1, 2024. Deposit and tuition paid will be fully refunded in the event the instructor has to cancel. If you are unable to attend due to illness or family emergency, a partial to full refund may be available if there is a wait list and someone is able to take your spot. Registration will be capped at 16 or fewer participants in order to preserve a more intimate environment and allow for high quality, individual feedback each day.

Watercolor Workshop August

Jessica L Bryant Watercolor Workshop

August 10, 9am - 4pm

In downtown Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

Details:

Cost: $125. This class is intended for all abilities. People who are new to watercolor will leave with a good understanding of how the medium works and how to practice and improve at home. Advanced painters will be challenged to push out of their comfort zone in order to broaden and strengthen skills.

There will be an overview covering observation, value, color mixing, etc to get us all on the same page, to reinforce knowledge, and to warm up. We will move into exercises that can be customized to build your skills and help discover (or further develop) your personal painting style and unique voice. In the afternoon we'll walk through a small painting together. It will be a very dense day.

Beginners are asked to carefully review the materials list and accompanying video online to ensure that they come with a basic setup that’s ready to go. Let Jessica know if you are brand new, and she may be able to meet with you early the day of the workshop in order to help you set up your palette. It is also recommended that you watch the first 3 free videos at www.jessicabryant.com/online-classes. They will help you feel more prepared and be more familiar with your materials.

More advanced painters are asked to come with an open mind and some courage. The intention of this course is to help you advance your own goals, so we’ll discuss where you are and where you wish to go. If you’d like to bring a couple finished paintings along for feedback, please do.

Materials:

A list of suggested materials can be found on Jessica’s website, as well as a video that offers an overview for those who are newer to watercolor. You don’t need to have the exact paints, paper, or brushes that Jessica uses. If you already paint, bring what you have and we can discuss if there is something you might want to add. Do be sure to have the large cellulose kitchen sponge. You can find the list and more information at: www.jessicabryant.com/materials

Optional:

Bring a few reference images you are interested in painting. You may be able to use them for one or more of the exercises instead of what Jessica provides. There will likely be an optional evening event.

To Register:

Email Jessica at jessicabryantart@gmail.com. Upon confirmation that there is space available, you will be asked to send payment via mailed check or online payment. A nonrefundable deposit of $50 is required to reserve a spot. The full balance is due by August 1, 2024. Deposit and tuition paid will be fully refunded in the event the instructor has to cancel. If you are unable to attend due to illness or family emergency, a partial to full refund may be available if there is a wait list and someone is able to take your spot. Registration will be capped at 16 or fewer participants in order to preserve a more intimate environment and allow for high quality, individual feedback.
