Rainy and stormy
again. Worked on some things, then headed out, driving Amanda and Ed
through the park in the rain, stopping for photographs. The colors
of the rocks really shift when they are wet. Some get darker, some
lighter, all are more vivid. I've talked about the Badlands mud, and
how you have to be careful not to get caught out in the rain off road
here. For fun, we did a little bit of mud walking in a couple
different varieties of mud. One is like trying to walk on slick nose
goo, others you sink down into and the mud clings to your soles and
can build into an inches thick layer on your boots. We went all the
way to Wall, showed Amanda Wall Drug, got some groceries, then drove
back to the quad again, through the park. I made Coq au Vin for them
and Steven for dinner, and we had brownies and ice cream for dessert.
The clouds began to lift, so we followed Steven outside for a walk
over to some Buttes. He set up his camera for some star shots, but
the clouds moved back in again, so we didn't stay out too long.
